ADS Postmaster Configuration
PurposeThis tab configures basic licencing and generic features of the i-Mail system
i-Mail SystemThis is the path to the base directory of the i-Mail system. This directory should contain a number of subdirectories such as APPS, CONFIG, USERS and SPOOL. To maintain a different i-Mail system, change this directory and press the Set button. The change will take effect next time i-Mail Administrator is loaded.
This should be the name of the person in charge of the i-Mail system.
Your licence key. This key is provided by your i-Mail reseller.
Your licence codes. These codes are provided by your i-Mail reseller. Registration codes are licenced for a single server only.
BackupBy turning this option on i-Mail will store a copy of all downloaded mail from POP hosts in a directory named SAFE off the i-Mail base directory.
By selecting this option, files in the SAFE directory will be removed when they are older the specified number of days
PostMasterIf you are using i-Mail as your mail server you should select this option.
If i-Mail will be forwarding mail to another system, or your mail administrator is on another site, you should select this option. The PostMaster must have a full e-mail address specified and must belong to a domain that has been specified as a remote domain which i-Mail can contact. (see Domains Tab).
This is the address that undeliverable mail and status messages will be sent to.
Remote ManagementSelect this option to be able to monitor and activate various tasks remotely from the i-Mail server with iManager.
Enter a password for accessing i-Mail via iManager. Blank passwords are not allowed for remote management.
i-Mail will service iManager clients at this TCP/IP address.
Default: 13976
i-Mail will service iManager clients on this TCP/IP port.
Default: Low
This option specifies how often i-Mail will send status updates to iManager clients. Low bandwith sends updates approximately every 10 seconds, high bandwidth updates about for times per second.
MailPoll provides an easy method for assigned users to force internet mail send and collection from their workstation without learning how to use iManager or RConsole. When enabled, i-Mail will scan for the configured files approximately every 8 seconds. If the file is found it will delete the file and perform the configured actions. MailPoll can be used with the supplied Win32 application 'MailPoll' and any third party application can write to one of the elected files also to force the process to start.
The file should contain a bit pattern of four 0's and/or 1's which state the operation desired. These are in the order Collect, Send, Process Local and Clear requeues. If an option is wrong or unspecified the defaults for that file are used.
Each file entry has default settings to be set in place of any missing in a user created MailPoll file and an Override setting which can be set to 'on' to force the action to happen, to 'off' to prevent the event happening or 'unset' which uses the setting from the user or the default.
Use the 'Wait for local processor before sending' switch to force i-Mail to complete a local mail scan prior to sending outbound mail. The primary use of this feature is for developers working with MailScan directories. By enabling the wait, all files in MailScan directories will be completed and put in their respective mailboxes and queued to be sent before an outbound send is initiated, guaranteeing mail is send when required.
The recommended storage area for the mailpoll file is the default 'SYS:\IMAIL\MAILPOLL\~POLL.TMP'. Using this file ensures the temporary files are purged each day at the i-Mail housekeeping time.
Important Note: Users must have sufficient rights to create the MailPoll file.
